In Assam, there is no respite from flood fury in the state including Guwahati. Incessant rains affected normal life in most of the areas. Educational institutes are closed in Kamrup Metropolitan district for the second day today.<br />'' <br />'' Many places in Guwahati are facing water logging. Apart from rains, landslides have also made the situation critical in Guwahati.<br />'' <br />'' Overall 74 thousand people are affected due to floods in 18 districts in the state.<br />'' <br />'' In Meghalaya, record-breaking rainfall across the State has left a trail of devastation affecting life and traffic cutting off connectivity to some areas including transit roads to other North East States.<br />'' <br />'' According to the Indian Metrological Department, all districts have received excess rainfall this season except Ri-Bhoi, where the rainfall has been recorded as normal.<br />'' <br />'' Following the incessant rain in the past few days, parts of National Highway-06 under Lumshnong Police Station in East Jaintia Hills district caved in leading to disruption in traffic flow. With the damage, heavy vehicles were advised not to take this route.<br />'' <br />'' Police and local administration are in action to restore normalcy and help stranded passengers and drivers with necessary assistance.<br />'' <br />'' More landslides were reported near Treiongriang bridge on Jowai – Amlarem road. In West Jaintia Hills district, traffic has been halted and clearing is in progress, said local police.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma held a review meeting today with the Deputy Commissioners of all districts and concerned Departments to assess the prevalent situations across the State and take stock of damages caused due to incessant rains.
