In Assam, normal life has been placed out of gear following incessant rains since last two days. Most of the rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are in spate resulting in submerging of low-lying areas in several districts. AIR Correspondent reports that several parts of the Guwahati city are experiencing flood like situation since last evening due to heavy down-pour. Traffic movement in most of the vital roads of the city has been disrupted causing great difficulties for the commuters, office goers and school children. The entire campus of the Doordarshan Kendra, located in the Radha Gobinda Barooah road of the city is under knee-deep water. Telecast of the programmes of the Kendra is, however, not affected. Most of the roads leading to the Dispur capital was under water during the morning hour. In many parts of the city, educational institutions remained closed. Attendance in offices is also affected as most of them are surrounded by water. Meanwhile, the Guwahati Development Authority has taken steps to pump out the water from the flooded drains of the city.
