Incessant rains continued to affect life in the southern and western parts of Madhya Paradesh worsening the flood situation in over half a dozen districts. Eleven people have died due to excessive rainfall and flooding. The surrounding area of Ujjain has been put on a high alert due to flooding in the low-laying areas.Four persons were killed in Hoshangabad, three in Ujjain, two in Domoh and one each in Sehore and Dewas. Nearly 3 thousands and 500 people were shifted to relief camps in the affected districts by the administration as a precautionary measure. The trains movement on the metre gauge near Ujjain and road traffic in many parts of the district were also affected in the heavy rains forcing the district administration to declare high alert.Heavy rains resulted in the entire Unjjain district on Sunday affecting no traffic movement. Water level has crossed danger mark in Shipra and the bridge road was submerged in three-foot water. The current spell of heavy rainfall is likely to continue during next 24 hours through its intensity would decrease by Wednesday. Another low-pressure area is developing over Bay of Bengal, which is likely to bring fresh spell from 2nd August.
