Incessant rain lashes most parts of Andhra Pradesh disrupting normal life

In Andhra Pradesh, normal life has been hit due to incessant rain lashing most parts of the state. It is raining under the influence of the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal and the vigorous North East monsoon. Quoting Officials our correspondent reports that 9 persons died in rain-related incidents. Four persons were washed away in Prakasam district, while two died in Guntur and three in wall collapse in Hyderabad.

Our correspondent adds that the people of Andhra Pradesh are still struggling to recoup from the misery they faced during the cyclone Phailin that struck few days ago. The incessant downpour for the past two days has thrown normal life out of gear especially in coastal districts of the state. Dozens of rivers and rivulets are in spate while overflowing streams are flooding habitations. Thousands of villages and several areas in towns and cities were marooned. Flood water is flowing over roads and even rail tracks disrupting transport systems. Gearing up to tackle the situation, the district administration has initiated massive rescue and relief operations. Eight teams of the National Disaster Management Teams have been sent so far to the worst affected Srikakulam and Praksam districts. Over seven thousand people are taking shelter in the relief camps.
