Incessant rain killed five people in Uttar Pradesh where as Bihar faces a flood situation with the Gandak River breaching its embankment in Gopalgunj district.In Bihar, a flood alert has been sounded in Saran division in Gopalgunj district in the wake of the swollen Gandak River breaching about 25 metre of its embankment and damaging slopes of the river side, top and rural side.The Officials said; it is feared that the breach in the embankment may leadto a repeat of the 2008 floods by Kosi river after it had breached its embankment at Kusaha in Nepal.In Uttar Pradesh, five people lost their lives in rain related incidents in Varanasi and Jaunpur districts in Uttar Pradesh where flood situation continues to remain grim due to rise in water level of major rivers at a number of places.Meanwhile, the flood situation in Upper and Lower Assam eased with the mighty Brahmaputra recording a falling trend due to declining rainfall along its course in the 11 affected districts.The maximum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana settled few notches below normal range though there was no rainfall. The weather was mainly dry in Rajasthan barring few places.
