In Nagaland, incessant medium to heavy downpour has caused landslides in all the districts and damaged roads, cultivated lands and other property. National Highway-29, the lifeline of Nagaland and Manipur, was damaged following the heavy rains along the highway between Kohima and Dimapur districts. The Border Road Task Force, BRTF personnel are working almost round-the-clock to clear the slide earth. The incessant rains last night resulted in a massive landslide since yesterday morning at NH-61 near Botsa, under Kohima district. Sources said vehicles remained stranded for a long time till the road was cleared. The Government of Nagaland has appealed to all concerned to desist from illegal dumping of earth and waste material on National Highway-29 near Naga Hospital Kohima. Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Temjen Toy requested all the citizens to report any such dumping to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima so that punitive actions can be taken against the defaulters.
