Sikkim was cut off from rest of India following landslides on the main artery NH 31 – A at 10 Mile . Darjeeling district relief officer Mr. Arindam Biswas said, land slides at the Kalimpong sub-division affected traffic on the Gangtok-Siliguri stretch . He said reports of landslides also came in from various places of the Darjeeling Hills, triggered by incessant rain for the past few days. Meanwhile the flood situation in parts of Jalpaiguri district also worsened due to intermittent heavy rain .Khayerkata village is completely flooded due to overflowing of river waters, forcing marooned residents to take shelter in relief camps.Heavy rain caused the rivers to breach their embankment in many places of the district.Water levels in Teesta, Reti and Dudhua rivers have touched the danger mark and flooded large tracts of land in Jalpaiguri.
