The government announced incentives worth of 500 crore rupees for exporters. This will encourage them to aggressively market products in China and Japan, and build on the recovery witnessed since November last year. The sectoral package includes expansion of the Focused Product Scheme, under which exporters are given 2 to 3 per cent incentives. Unveiling these measures in New Delhi on Tuesday, the Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr. Anand Sharma also announced inclusion of China and Japan, in the Market Linked Focused Programme, under which exports to specified countries are provided sops. AIR correspondent reports that the new policy will be effective from today and the burden would be borne by the internal budget of his ministry.
