In the wake of bird flu cases in parts of Gujarat, state government has announced the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be adopted for the upcoming Karuna Abhiyan.<br />'' <br />''Every year, the state government undertakes the Karuna Abhiyan, a campaign to save and treat birds that get injured during the kite festival.<br />'' <br />''Chief Minister Vijay Rupani held a high level meeting with senior officers of Forest, Environment and Animal Husbandry Departments yesterday. During the meeting, Mr Rupani said, human beings coming in contact with birds infected with Bird Flu during treatment may also get infection.<br />'' <br />''The Chief Minister issued specific precautions to be adopted in dealing with birds during the Karuna Abhiyan this year. AIR correspondent reports that due to confirmed reports of bird-flu from Junagadh, Vadodara, Surat and Valsad districts, the officials and NGO workers engaged in 'Karuna Abhiyan' campaign have been asked to take special care.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">According to this, all health workers on Karuna Abhiyan duty must follow Covid-19 protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands with soap or sanitizing frequently. It is compulsory for all workers during Save Bird – Karuna Abhiyan to wear disposable PPE kit and hand gloves. Dead birds should be handed over in plastic bags with Ziplock to the nearest health centers of the Animal Husbandry Department, while injured birds should be carefully carried in appropriate containers. Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot Municipal corporations have been asked to provide PPE kits, hand gloves, plastic bags with zip-lock and containers to the volunteers involved in this campaign.</span><br />
