In Uttrakhand, rescue and relief operation in its final leg, focus on rebuilding houses and other infrastructure

In Uttarakhand, rescue and relief operation is on at Badrinath, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts for stranded persons. AIR correspondent report, about 3000 pilgrims and tourists are still stranded.

Meanwhile, a team of experts from Archaeological Survey of India will visit the Kedarnath temple to assess the quantum of damage caused by the flood fury and restoration required for the shrine.

The team is expected to suggest restoration exercise needed for the temple and the surrounding areas.

As of now, Kedarnath temple is not a protected site under the ASI.

AIR correspondent adds that after the completion of rescue work, rebuilding the damaged area and housing is a major challenge for the state administration.

Union Rural Development Ministry has doubled the allocation of housing by adding another 14,000 units under Indira Awas Yojana.
