In Uttar Pradesh, at least 20 people were killed and over 40 injured in a stampede in Kripaluji Maharaj Ashram in Kunda Police Station area in Pratapgrah. Addl. Director General of Police Mr. Brijlal has confirmed the death toll but said the exact number of injured is awaited. Some eye witnesses say that the toll might be higher. Most of the dead were women and children. A mass lunch programme ( Bhandara) was being orgainsed in the ashram when the main gate collapsed and fell on devotees.
