In unprecedented move JK Gov'nor orders laying CAG report before assembly

In an unprecedented move, Jammu andKashmir Governor NN Vohra on Tuesdayordered the state government to present the reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in the state legislature during its currentBudget Session. According to a Raj Bhawan spokesman, the Governor issued the order in pursuance of Article 151(2) of the Constitution for laying before the state legislature, thereports of the CAG on Appropriation Accounts 2012-13, Finance Accounts 2012-13, (Volume-1 and Volume-2), State Finances for the year ended March 31, 2013, and on Revenue Sector and Public Sector undertakings for the year ended March 31, 2013. Subash Chander Pandey, Principal Accountant General of the state had called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Jammu on 19th of this month to explain the salient features of the J-K audit report for the financial year 2013-14.He also briefed Mr. Vohra about the mechanisms which have been put in place for promoting excellence in the J-K public sector through the functioning of the audit and accounting services.
