In an unprecedented move the Lok Sabha was adjourned for five minutes at a request by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley made in the midst of presenting the NDA government’s maiden General Budget. Following the request, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House till 1150 hours.

When the House reassembled, the Speaker gave permission to Jaitley to continue his Budget presentation speech while sitting.
