In Tamil Nadu, district administrations in the southern districts are gearing up to face the heavy rain. Met office has forecast isolated heavy rain in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kannya Kumari for the next twenty four hours because of upper air circulation near Maldives and Lakshadweep. In the northern districts there is respite from rain. Special camps will be held from tomorrow for a fortnight in 34 schools in Kanchipuram, 29 in Tiruvallur 15 in Cuddalore and 54 schools in Chennai for receiving applications for duplicate copy of certificates from students who lost it in the rain. <br/><br/>"In the southern districts of Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi excess water released from Papanasam Sevalaru Manimutharu dams into Thamaraparani river has caused extreme damage. Three National disaster response Force teams consisting of 110 personnel are stationed in Thoothukudi Athur and Srivaikuntam and two NDRF teams consisting of 70 personnel are stationed in Trunelveli district to face any eventuality due to more flooding of low lying areas. Met office has forecast heavy rain in the region and district administration is getting ready to face nature's fury. Warning has been issued to people living near Thamaraparani river and advised to move to relief camps in an emergency. In Tiruvannamalai district banana paddy sugar cane crops in more than 20,000 acres were damaged in the rain. Rs 2 crore compensation was given for damages in 5045 houses in the district.
