In-principle approval to third phase project of DMRC

Delhi Government has given in-principle approval to the third phase project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Mrs Shiela Dikshit on Monday. The approval was given on three routes proposed under this phase of construction. The three routes include Central Secretariat to Red Fort , Rajouri Garden to Mukundupur and Jahangir Puri to Badali. Sources said that the DMRC had proposed construction of six routes covering nearly 70 kilometer. However, in the other three routes which would coverOuter and Inner Ring Road like framework proposed by theMetro, the Delhi Cabinet has suggested some amendments askingthe DMRC to cover more areas. The third phase at a proposed cost of 2468 crore rupees is likely to be completed within five years.
