In Nepal, political deadlock likely to be resolved

In Nepal, top leaders of three largest political parties – Nepali Congress, CPN(UML) and the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist) have expressed hope that the prevailing political deadlock will be resolved soon to take forward the task of constitution writing and the peace process.Talking to newsmen at a tea reception organized by the CPN(UML) in Kathmandu this afternoon, the leaders said there is no alternative to consensus to end the current deadlock.<br/>Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala expressed hope that the political impasse would be resolved before the resumption of the next session of parliament. They also underlined the need to form a high level political mechanism to resolve differences among the political parties. Maoist Chairman Prachanda stressed the need for the parties to demonstrate flexibility to arrive at a consensus on key issues.<br/>AIR Correspondent reports that the meeting of the three largest political parties held yesterday to find an amicable solution to the current parliament deadlock ended inconclusively.<br/>
