In Manipur, the economic blockade along the National Highways of the state has entered its 101 day today. In view of the hardships faced by the people of the state due to the economic blockade, state government is trying to bring essential commodities to Imphal along the Imphal – Jiribam Road of National Highway – 53 under tight security protection.Many Petrol pumps in and around the state capital Imphal have opened today after two days. Long queues of vehicles were seen infront of the petrol pumps this early morning.The Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee suspended its economic blockade after 93 days on the 31st of the last month. However, the United Naga Council and the All Naga Students Association, Manipur have decided to continue their economic blockade demanding an alternative arrangement of administration for the Nagas in Manipur. The economic blockade called by the Naga bodies which started from August 21 last has completed 80 days today
