In Maharashtra, heavy and continuous rains for the last three days in Konkan and Marathwada regions have created flood-like situation. Most rivers are swollen and are flowing above the danger mark and the lakes are overflowing. With flood gates of most dams in both the regions opened, river bridges and agriculture fields are flooded with crops damaged.

Despite this, the people of water-scarce Marathwada region have welcomed the delayed rains in the region. Other parts of state like the central Maharashtra and Vidarbha too have been experiencing steady heavy rains for the last 24 hours making up for the rain deficit. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall across state for another 3 days.

AIR correspondent's report:-
"In rain battered coastal Konkan region, traffic on Mumbai-Goa highway was hampered with just one lane open due to landslide in the area. The rains have badly affected the Konkan railway schedule too with trains running 2-3 hours late. In Ratnagiri and Sindudurg districts, landslide at several points has restricted traffic on just one lane on the highway while the flooded Jagbudi river has cut off contact with 32 villages. In Marathwada region, many residential and commercial areas are reported to be under water. In Latur district, where the state government had supplied water through trains this summer, water in Majara dam has risen considerably. In Nanded, Parbhani and Osmanabad districts roads are reported to be under water with traffic being diverted at many points. The small, medium and big irrigation projects in the area have recorded satisfactory water levels. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Marathwada region will experience heavy to very rainfall for another 2 days while in Konkan region some areas will see extremely heavy rains in coming 24 hours."
