With nearly all the votes counted in the referendum in Kyrgyzstan, the country's Election Commission says voters have overwhelmingly approved a new constitution. The interim government had called for the referendum after President Kurmanbek Bakiyev was overthrown in April. The referendum took place about two weeks after a wave of clashes between ethnic Kyrgyz and Uzbeks in the south, when hundreds of people were killed. <br/> Earlier, the interim leader Roza Otunbayeva said the country has embarked on a path towards true democracy. The referendum was supported by the UN, the US and Russia, as a step towards restoring democracy.<br/>
