In Kolkata, relief and rescue operation by Army, NDRF, Police and Fire brigade personnel continued at the flyover accident site throughout the day today.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, political parties including Congress and BJP charged the state government that a close relative of the local TMC candidate was acting as the sub-contractor for the under-construction road over bridge. <br/><br/>The city Police have apprehended 10 persons of the construction company. These include two officers of IVRCL as well. The Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer of Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority have reportedly been suspended.<br/><br/>BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said the ruling party is responsible for this accident and a CBI probe should be ordered in the tragedy to find out the guilty.<br/><br/>The collapse of the flyover in congested Burrabazar area on yesterday has left 24 people dead and 89 injured, some of them still very critical. <br/><br/>The ruling party local MP, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, earlier today said he had alerted the government after being sounded on design-based shortcoming of the project but by the time the flyover was fifty percent complete.<br/><br/>State Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury speaking at the Meet the Press programme at Press Club in Kolkata today, said so many innocent lives have been lost due to the unholy nexus of the ruling party with the builders. Yesterday, Mr. Chowdhury had asked for resignation and arrest of the outgoing Urban Development minister, Firhad Hakim. <br/><br/>Reacting to the BJP and Congress charges, Mr. Hakim today said both the parties are out to do poll politics over the unfortunate deaths in the tragedy. AIR correspondent further reports:-<br/><br/>"The civic and security authorities meanwhile today put on notice boards over several multi-storied buildings on both sides of the collapsed flyover declaring them dangerous to inhabit. <br/><br/>Officials said some of them, having suffered structural damage under the impact of the collapse, need to be vacated urgently.<br/><br/>The Rabindra Sarani portion of the Ganesh Talkies crossing has been cleared by the rescue teams this evening. The Army and NDRF teams working overnight to clear the debris said they are no more hopeful of tracing any victims as major pockets of the steel and concrete mass have been cleared."
