In Jammu & Kashmir, authorities have booked five out of eight accused under the Public Safety Act, in the incident relating to miscreants setting a truck ON FIRE in Udhampur area on Jammu Srinagar National Highway on October 9.<br/><br/>An official statement said that five persons involved in the attack have a criminal history and several FIRs are already lodged against them.<br/><br/>They have been booked for planning and executing a criminal conspiracy aiming at disturbing peace and public order in the state under a pre-designed and motivated plan. One person stated to be the kingpin, is absconding.<br/><br/>Meanwhile,one of the truckers Zahid Rasool Bhat today succumbed to injuries in a Delhi hospital. He had suffered 70 per cent injuries in the incident. Another injured in the attack Showkat Ahmad is undergoing treatment and reported to be stable in the hospital.<br/><br/>Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has expressed deep shock over the death and blamed the "politics of hate and intolerance", saying it is posing a "grave challenge" to the nation.<br/><br/>The Chief Minister also ordered payment of ex-gratia relief to next of kin of the deceased.
