IMSTEC: Quiz event to be held to mark 25th anniversary

The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) will hold a Quiz in Thimphu, Bhutan to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the organisation on February 14. Announcing this in Dhaka, the BIMSTEC secretariat said that Minister of External Affairs  and Trade of Bhutan Dr. Tandi Dorji will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. <br />'' <br />'' There will be seven teams competing in the Quiz composed of two secondary school students representing each of the seven member States of BIMSTEC ' Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. <br />'' <br />'' BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka is organising the Quiz Contest in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & External Trade of Bhutan, and with the support of all the BIMSTEC member States. <br />'' <br />'' The Secretariat decided to organise an event recognising the importance of young people in driving regional cooperation and integration to mark the BIMSTEC's Silver Jubilee. <br />'' <br />'' The Quiz is aimed to foster fraternal spirit which is essential for meaningful regional cooperation to materialise. BIMSTEC member States would be inspired to take steps to create more opportunities in future for young people in the region to come together and interact with each other as the organisation evolves, said the statement by the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday. <br />'' <br />'' The Quiz will be streamed live on the Facebook page of the Bhutan Broadcasting Service at 10 a.m. Bhutan time on Tuesday 14 February.<br />'' <br />'' The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is a regional organisation. Established in 1997, it comprises seven member states including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand lying in the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal.
