Former Chairman of ISRO, Mr. G Madhavan Nair, lamented that radars are imported even when such a technology is available within the country. He noted that imported radars are not supported by long duration technical aid; whereas those developed indigenously have technical support base within the country. He was speaking at seventh International Radar Symposium in Bangalore today. Mr. Nair said Byalalu deep space network Centre near Bangalore has state of the art radars developed indigenously. The Synthetic Aperture Radar that was embedded in Chandrayaan I and which detected water on moon was also developed within the country, he pointed out.<br/>
