India says it is important for it that more power is produced at affordable prices. Talking to media on the sidelines of Paris conference in Paris today, the adviser to the Prime Minister"s council on climate change, Ajay Mathur said that the Renewable energy is the energy of the future but its cost has to come down. He said India is interested to replace its old thermal plants to save on carbon emission by setting up super critical thermal plant which are about 40 percent more efficient. <br/><br/>He said more investment is being made on R&D in this field and tying up with other nations who depend on thermal plant as USA has now stopped setting up new thermal plants to save on carbon emission.<br/><br/>Replying to a question he said the intervention by the French President is ensuring better chances on the outcome of the negotiation of climate change conference. Reshuffle in the energy mix in future may help in to the poor tribal population who most live in these coal bearing area. Besides cutting on carbon, it may help in preserving the eco- system in these area.
