Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has said, implementation of urban missions, including Swachh Bharat will continue to be area of emphasis in the coming year. <br/><br/>He said, the progress made by the initiatives of the Ministry has been encouraging. He said, 2016 remained a hectic year for the Ministry which succeeded in having the Real Estate Bill passed in Parliament. <br/><br/>Urban development Ministry in a release said that Swachh Bharat Mission in urban areas attained half-way mark of mission objectives in building toilets during this year. As against the objective of building over 66 lakh individual household toilets, about 28 lakh have already been built and construction of another 21 lakh 43 thousand toilets is nearing completion. <br/><br/>The Ministry said, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has touched a new high with construction of over nine lakh affordable houses for urban poor being approved during this year alone as against over 13 lakh such houses approved during 2005-2014. <br/><br/>To enhance ease of doing business, integrated online building permission system has commenced this year in Delhi and Mumbai with respect of which approvals are being accorded in less than 30 days.
