IMF projects 8.2% growth for India in 2011

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected an 8.2 per cent growth in the Indian economy in 2011. This was stated in the World Economic Outlook report released in Washington. The latest projection comes at a time when the country is grappling with high inflation that threatens to derail its growth process. Inflation in India, which is the second fastest economy after China, crossed 9 per cent mark last month. The Government has expressed serious concern that GDP expansion during the current fiscal may moderate from its February projection of around 9 per cent growth rate.
