IMF: Haiti extends line of credit of $41.6 millions in financial assistance

International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said, Haiti will be extended a line of credit of over 41 million dollars to help the nation deal with financial pressures in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. The Executive Board of IMF said this in a release yesterday.

The release said, emergency relief and reconstruction costs will significantly raise the overall fiscal deficit and external current account deficit over the next few years. The category 4 Hurricane Matthew hit the country in early October, killing more than 500 people, displacing more than 1,75,000 into temporary shelters, and putting over 1 million in immediate need of humanitarian assistance.
