IMF chief warns financial crisis in Greece could spread in Europe

The head of the International Monetary Fund has warned that the financial crisis in Greece could spread throughout Europe. Dominique Strauss-Kahn said a European-led rescue package for Greece needs to be implemented quickly as the situation is getting worse all the time and could affect other countries. World financial markets, recovering slightly on Wednesday, have been badly hit by fears of contagion from Greece. Germany said the total financial aid package for Greece could be more than double the 60 billion dollars that was previously expected. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Greece had to agree to make real cuts.
