IMD to give localised information, services to farmers for better farm yield

India Meteorological Department, IMD, is working in close coordination with the agriculture ministry for providing localised information and services to the farmers for better farm yield. In an exclusive interview to All India Radio,the IMD Director General Air vice-marshall Ajit Tyagi said,area specific information on agriculture related issues is added to the IMD data at 132 agromet centers. This value added data are now being made available to farmers in 600 districts across the country.<br/><br/>Dr Tyagi also said that within 5 years the entire country will have doppler radars connected with satellites for near actual weather predictions and early warnings in case of any natural disaster.<br/><br/>The full interview can be heard in our program countrywide at 9:30pm tonight on FM gold channel at 106.4 Mhz.
