Inter-Ministerial Central Teams, IMCT have been constituted to visit drought affected States to assess the situation and recommend Central assistance.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat said that Met Department has reported 12 percent deficit in rainfall as a whole as on 3rd of this month.

He said out of the 36 Sub-Divisions in the country, 23 received normal rainfall, 12 sub-divisions received deficient rainfall while one sub-division get scanty rainfall.

The Minister said State governments have initiated necessary relief measures in wake of
natural calamities including drought from State Disaster Response Fund.
