Illegal Mining Case: Reddy Brothers in judicial custody till 19th sept

A CBI Special Court in Hyderabad had sent former Karnataka Minister and Owner of Obulapuram Mining Company, Gali Janardhan Reddy and its Managing Director, Srinivasa Reddy to judicial custody till the 19th of this month in the illegal mining case in Karnataka. The CBI asked the Judge to transfer both the accused to their custody for further interrogation.

The Judge adjourned the case for Wednesday. Earlier yesterday, CBI officials brought the accused persons from Bangaluru to Hyderabad. CBI Joint Director Lakshmi Narayana said that there is enough evidence to prove that the accused indulged in illegal mining and violation of the Forest Protection Act.

Congress charged BJP with adopting dual standards while dealing with the issue of corruption. Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Party spokesman Manish Tewari denied allegation of political vendetta in the CBI's investigation into the involvement of Reddy brothers in illegal mining.

BJP said that it has nothing to do with the business and personal affairs of mining barons, Reddy brothers. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, senior party leader, S S Ahluwalia, however said that party will take action against Reddy brothers only after the charges are established.
