Illegal mining case: CBI continues its raid on Reddy’s close aides

The Central Bureau of Investigation, probing illegal mining by Reddy brothers, continued its raid on their close associates in Hospet near Bellary in Karnataka on Monday. A seven member team raided the houses of S T D Manjunath, Swastic Nagaraj and Karapudi Manjunath in Hospet and Sandur on Monday. When the raids took place, they were not present in their houses.

The CBI team hence pasted notice on their doors to appear before the CBI court in Hyderabad. AIR Bellary Correspondent informs that these associates have been named as accused in the Lokayuktha report on illegal mining that is submitted to the State Government.

SAIL plans to set up steel processing units in UP
The government on Monday said that Steel Authority of India Limited, SAIL, has a plan to set up steel processing units at Hardoi, Mirzapur, Jhansi, Gonda, Lakhimpur and Barabanki districts in Uttar Pradesh. Talking to media persons on Monday at Lucknow Union Minister for Steel Mr. Beni Prasad Verma said that SAIL also wants to set up a steel unit in Lalitpur in Bundelkhand region of the state after reports of major iron ore reserves found in the area.

Mr. Verma sought support of the state government in getting land for setting up industrial projects in the state. Replying to a question about the measures taken by the ministry to increase steel production, Mr. Verma said that by 2020 India would become second steel producer in the world after China with production of 200 million tones of steel.
