In Punjab, Mansa District Police has busted a gang which was involved in trading of weapons manufactured in illegal factories of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Director General of State police, Paramdeep Singh Gill told media persons in Chandigarh today that these weapons were sold by dealers to general public as imported weapons of different make and papers were prepared for these weapons. Police Chief said that the reports are being verified that these factories were also supplying weapons to Maoists in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and to some other terrorist groups. Police of concerned states has already been informed. Mr. Gill said that Ministry of Home Affairs has also been informed to involve some central investigation agency in the investigations. Police has arrested 15 persons including a woman in this connection. Police Chief confirmed that seven policemen of constable level are also among the arrested persons. Police has recovered 270 pistols. More than six thousand cartridges have also been confiscated by police. Weapon dealers in different cities of the state are also being raided by the police to further investigate the matter. The Police chief admitted that about 7-8 thousand cartridges of Punjab police are missing for which investigation is on. All arrested persons have been sent to four days police custody to investigate the matter.
