The Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily informed that apex institutions like IIT and IIMs which had expanded only one percent since last 45 years have witnessed a drastic growth of 54 percent now due to recommendation of Oversight Committee of Central Government now. He was speaking at the 46th Annual Convocation of Bangalore University today. He opined that India has caged knowledge for centuries which needs to be unleashed. He stressed that the need of the hour is to create as many centres of excellence as possible so that talent can blossom. On this occasion Kannada poet, Padmashri Nadoja Prof. K S Nisar Ahmed, eminent scholar Nadoja Dr. M Chidananda Murthy and renowned artist B K S Varma were given Honorary D.Lit degree by the Chancellor of the University Governor H R Bharadwaj. Girls over scored over boys to win highest number of Gold medals in the convocation this year.
