Human Resource Development Ministry has said that the revised IIT fee will be applicable for students taking admission starting from academic year 2016-17 onwards. The Ministry clarification came a day after IIT-Kharagpur students protested by shouting slogans at the campus against the fee hike. <br/><br/>The government had recently decided to increase the annual fees for undergraduate courses from existing 90,000 to 2 lakh rupees. The Ministry yesterday said, the students who are already enrolled in undergraduate courses have been spared from the fee hike. <br/><br/>The Ministry has also said, it will give a total fee waiver for the differently-abled, students from SC and ST community and those belonging to families with annual income less than one lakh rupees. Students from families with annual income of less than 5 lakh rupees will also be entitled to a waiver of two-third amount. Rest of the students who do not fall under any category will be facilitated interest-free loans.
