IGNCA organising ‘Veena’ festival at Chennai

To revive India’s ancient musical instrument, the veena, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, IGNCA, is organising the Veena festival at Chennai in association with the Veena Foundation. Briefing newspersons in Chennai this evening, the Advisor to IGNCA, V Raghurama Ayyar said that Member of Parliament Mrs K Kanimozhi will inaugurate the festival at the Narada Gana Sabha on Friday. He said simultaneous veena recitals are being organised in different places in India and other countries as part of the festival. Mr Ayyar said that scholars at the IGCNA are microfilming ancient manuscripts and making them available to the people.
