Billed as a Festival of Change, the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is commencing in Goa just a few hours from now.
The ten-day magnanimous extravaganza will be inaugurated by Bollywood Star, Shahrukh Khan in the presence of Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ambika Soni and Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat.
Showcasing many technologically advanced movies including 3Ds and also animations, this time IFFI has selected USA under its Country Focus category.
This package will explore that how Americans look at and practice the disciplines of Arts, Music and Cinema. Five films made by eminent filmmakers of US will be shown under this segment. Six Russian Classics including ‘The Day of the Full Moon’ would also be screened.
The closing film of the festival will be ‘The Lady’. This film is about an extraordinary story of Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband, Michael Aris. It is also the story of the peaceful quest of the woman who is at the core of Burma’s democracy movement.
Meanwhile, film star, Jackie Shroff in a conversation with AIR has appealed to the whole film fraternity of the country to attend and support this annual event to make it more successful.
The Prime Minister and the Minister of Information & Broadcasting have also wished the festival best
