IFFI pays homage to ‘Rockstar’ Shammi Kapoor

The 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), presently on at Panaji in Goa, is paying homage to the ‘Rockstar’ of the yesteryears' Shammi Kapoor, by screening his early 60’s film ‘Professor’, today. This is the last film among seven, to be screened in the Homage category at the IFFI.

The closing ceremony of Short Film Center organized by the Entertainment Society of Goa will also be held, today.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the steering committee of IFFI, Mike Pandey has said that states should have a uniform policy to promote its regional cinema.

Speaking at ‘Open Forum’ organized on the topic of ‘Future of Regional Cinema’ at the main IFFI venue, yesterday; he said this is a powerful, thought provoking cinema and need to be promoted.

It reflects the passage of time and transition happening in the country as a whole.
