IFFI: Many points about finer components of movies discussed in virtual discussion sessions

In the ongoing IFFI at Panaji, many points about the finer components of movies are discussed in virtual discussion sessions. One such aspect was cinema and music. Music maestro Hariharan expressed his views on music and movies in poetic manner. He opined that when there is a marriage of cinema and music, all senses are appealed to. Cinema in India is highly influenced by theatre filled with music and dance. He added that music in contemporary films has changed, so has society.<br />”<br />”Commenting on the evolution of music in Indian cinema, percussion expert Bickram Ghosh said that when we gained independence, there was an accentuation on being Indian in the films of that era. Hence, audience was given a trajectory of Indianness by means of Indian classical music. He added that region-based cinema gives music directors a chance to portray a slice of that land.
