IEO being set up to evaluate Govt’s major flagship programmes

An Independent Evaluation Office is being set up by the centre to evaluate the major flagship programmes of the government. Minister of State for Planning Mr V Narayansamy today informed the Rajya Sabha that the authority will undertake impartial and objective assessment of various public programmes and will place its findings in public domain.<br/><br/>In a written reply to another question, the Minister told the House that at least eight of thirteen major flagship programmes including MNREGA, Indira Awaas Yojna, Total Sanitation Campaign and Mid Day Meal have utilized less than 70 per cent of their annual allocation. Of these, the JNNURM, Accelerated irrigation Benifit Programme and Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programmes have utilized less than 50 per cent of their allocation.
