The International Committee of the Red Cross has urged Israel to lift its blockade of Gaza. In a statement, the ICRC said the blockade was a clear violation of international humanitarian law. Pointing to under-equipped hospitals, daily power cut and undrinkable water, the ICRC said Israel is punishing the whole civilian population of Gaza. It also urges Hamas movement to allow ICRC delegates to visit a detained Israel soldier Gilad Shalit.
