The ICICI Bank welcomed today all the 463 branches of the Bank of Rajasthan into its fold and claimed that this merger would be beneficial to capitalise growth opportunities in the Indian Economic system. ICICI MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar has thanked the RBI for the approval of the merger saying that ''the merger creates a good strategic fit, combining ICICI Bank's capital base and product suite with Bank of Rajasthan's branch network. With this merger, ICICI has now over 2500 branches, becoming the largest branch network in the private banking sector. RBI in a notification on Thursday said Bank of Rajasthan would seize to exist from the closing hours of August 12 and that the branches would be renamed after ICICI Bank.
