In the ICC Cricket World Cup, South Africa today mauled the West Indies by a massive 257 runs in a Pool-B game at Sydney. "After tasting defeat at the hands of defending champions India, the South Africans re-integrated brilliantly. It was South African Skipper AB DeVilliers' magical 66-ball 162 and Imran Tahir's excellent five-wicket haul that anchored the Proteas to record a powerful lopsided victory. Known for hitting the fastest ever ODI ton recently, AB DeVilliers smashed the second quickest World Cup century off just 52 balls, just 2 balls more than Ireland's Kevin O-Brien who had dismantled England in the tournament's last edition. DeVilliers bludgeoned 30 runs from the last over to take his team to 408, the highest World Cup score after India's 413 against Bermuda in 2007, which incidently Rahul Dravid-led Team India had won with the same 257-run margin. If DeVillers left anything, spinner Imran Tahir did it with his wrist. He completely bamboozled the West Indians claiming 5 wickets and giving away just 45 runs in his 10 overs. With 2 wickets apiece, Kyle Abbot and Morne Morkel also played their part in whitewashing the Windies who succumbed in the 34th over at the score of just 151. Jason Holder, who went for 30 runs in the final over, top scored with 56. AB DeVilliers was adjudged man of the match.Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of India's next game against UAE tomorrow due to a mild knee injury. The India-UAE Pool-B game will begin at 12 noon Indian Time at Perth. In the other match of the day, which is a Pool-A fixture, Australia will take on fellow hosts New Zealand at 6:30 AM at Auckland.
