Pakistan thrashed West Indies by ten wickets in the first quarter-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on Wednesday. Chasing 113 runs to win, Pakistan reached the target in 20.5 overs without any loss. Mohammad Hafiz 61 and Kamran Akmal 43 were unbeaten. Earlier, West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first. West Indies were all out just for paltry 112 runs in 43.3 overs. None of their top batsmens could stand the firey spell of Pakistan bowling line-up. Chanderpaul's unbeaten 44 is the highest individual score, followed by Srawan 24 and Kamer Roach 16. This is the second lowest total by West Indies in the Cricket World Cup. West Indies's lowest total in the Cricket World Cup is against Kenya, when they were all out for just 97 runs, in 1996 at Pune . For Pakistan, Shahid Afridi claimed 4 wickets and Mohammad Hafiz 2, while Razzaq and Umar Gul took 1 wicket each. India will play their quarter-final match against defending champions Australia on tomorrow. It will be a Day-Night encounter at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad.
