Afghanistan scored 213 in 49.5 overs. Mohammed Shami ed hat-trick in last over of the match. With this win, India registered their fourth win in the World Cup.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, India made 224 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Captain Virat Kohli top scored 67 and Kedar Jadhav made 52.
In another match, New Zealand defeated West Indies by 5 runs at Manchester. Earlier, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson rescued his team with a career-best 148, steering his side to a competitive 291 for eight.
Today, South Africa and Pakistan will be battling it out for a consolation win in their World Cup match at the Lord's. Both teams are virtually out of the semifinal race.
Having mustered just three points from six games, South Africa are all but out of the tournament while Pakistan might still sneak into the semifinals, provided they win their remaining four games and other results go in their favour.
