ICC World Cup: Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 105 runs

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh registers victory over Afghanistan by 105 runs in it's opening fixture. In a Pool A match played at Manuka Oval, Canberra, debutant Afghanistan chasing a target of 268 were all out at 162 in 42.5 overs. Bangladesh after posting a competitive 267 on the board, they enjoyed a fantastic start with the ball. They reduced Afghanistan 3 for 3, but a fighting 4th and 6th wicket partnership enabled Afghanistan to avoid a defeat from a more bigger margin. For Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza took 3 for 20. Earlier, batting first Bangladesh had posted 267 all out in stipulated 50 overs. Their innings was built around 5th wicket partnership of 114 runs between Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Mushfiqur Rahim who had scored 71 in 56 balls was adjudged Man of the Match.Tomorrow, in a Pool B game Zimbabwe will take on U.A.E at Nelson, New Zealand. The match will begin at 3:30 am Indian Time.
