ICC T-20 World Cup : Lanka beat Pak by 16 runs, reach final

Hosts Sri Lanka stormed into the finals of the ICC Twenty-20 World Cricket tournament, beating Pakistan by 16 runs in the first semi-final at Colombo last night. Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 139 for 4 in the stipulated 20 overs. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene top scored with 42, while Tillakaratne Dilshan chipped in with a handy 35. Chasing 140 for victory, Pakistan managed to make just 123 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs, courtesy a clinical bowling display from the home side, which struck at regular intervals, restricting Pakistan from entering the semi-finals of the T-20 World Cup for the second time in a row. Sri Lanka's Left arm off Spinner Rangana Herath scalped 3 wickets, while Ajantha Mendis and Angelo Mathews bagged 2 wickets each. Jayawardene was adjudged man of the match.In the second semi-final today, Australia will take on the West Indies at 7 PM in Colombo.All India Radio will broadcast ball-by-ball commentary on today's matches.
