The International Cricket Council, ICC today suspended all the six umpires caught in a TV sting, expressing their willingness to fix the recently concluded World Cup Twenty-20 matches.In a statement, it said, the ICC and its Full Member Boards have agreed not to appoint these umpires to any domestic or international matches, pending the outcome of the investigations. The statement added that the officials named are not contracted by the ICC. It said that those Boards, who employ and nominate the umpires directly, will conduct the investigations as a matter of urgency.A private TV channel had shown video clips, in which the umpires were seen expressing their willingness to give certain decisions in exchange for money. The six umpires were Nadeem Ghauri and Anees Siddiqui of Pakistan, Nadir Shah of Bangladesh, and Gamini Dissanayake, Maurice Winston and Sagara Gallage of Sri Lanka. However, all of them have denied the allegations, insisting that they were trapped by the channel.
