ICC Exec Board chalks out POA to implement reforms at Dubai meet

International Cricket Council, ICC Executive Board has concluded its two-day meeting at the ICC Headquarters in Dubai. During the meeting several decisions have been taken by the Board to give a boost to the expansion of cicket. Associate members can now aspire to compete in test cricket format. An ICC Test Challenge tournament will be held every four years between the lowest ranked Test team and the winner of the ICC Intercontinental Cup beginning in 2018. Two ICC Intercontinental Cup tournaments will be organized during 2015 to 2021. ICC had cleared the reforms in governance, financing and structure of international cricket at its last meeting in February in Singapore. In order to implement those resolutions which do not require constitutional change, the Board meeting in Dubai agreed on a long-term work plan. The resolutions which require amendments in constitution will be placed before the Full Council at the ICC Annual Conference in Melbourne in June.Under the new financial model, an extended Future Tours Program, FTP will now run until 2023. The ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson said that the FTP will give the members long-term certainty in relation to both their playing schedule and financial planning.The Board also decided that ICC T 20 Bangladesh format will be retained for the ICC World Twenty20 events in 2016 in India. The top eight Full Members on the ICC T20 Team Rankings as on 30 April 2014 will automatically qualify for the second round, while the ninth and 10th ranked Full Members will get automatic places in the first round. Australia coach Darren Lehmann and the West Indies coach Ottis Gibson have been appointed as the representatives of national coaches on the ICC Cricket Committee. The ICC Board also considered took stock of anti-corruption and integrity measures.
