ICC Cricket World Cup: New Zealand defeat Scotland by 3 wickets

In Tuesday's encounter in the ICC Cricket World Cup, co-hosts New Zealand defeated Scotland by three wickets. This was New Zealand's second consecutive victory in this world cup. In a Pool A match at Dunedin, chasing a below par target of 143, hosts made 146 for 7 in 24.5 overs. However, New Zealand was expected to win more convincingly.Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and asked Scotland to bat first. Trent Boult and Tim Southee in their opening spell reduced the visitors to 12 for 4. The two bowlers took two wickets each in consecutive balls but missed out on a hat-trick. For Scotland Matt Machan (May-Chan) and Richie Berrington enabled Scotland to reach a total of 142.On Wednesday, Bangladesh will open their World Cup campaign against debutant World Cup team Afghanistan at Manuka Oval, Canberra. Coming into this World Cup, Bangladesh has lost both its warm-up games. In the last edition, they had not advanced from the group stage.
